How much life is reduced on the brake pad when slotted and cross-drilled rotors are used?

I heard that cross-drilled and slotted rotors create a shaving effect that shortens the life of the pads, is this true? If so, how much life can I expect? I just want better braking from stock, no track racing. But I am a pretty aggressive driver since
